 visual thesaurus

Thinkmap Visual Thesaurus may be just what I need to expand my vocabulary. Innovative, visual and interactive – perfect for a designer! I’m seriously considering a subscription to this online service. Does anyone have any experience with or feedback on Thinkmap?

Joshua Radin rocks! I first heard his music on The Last Kiss soundtrack and then recently bought his album “We Were Here.” This song he performs with Schuyler Fisk is very pretty– it’s on The Last Kiss soundtrack.

His song “Closer” is excellent, too. Zach Braff directed the music video for “Closer.”

dino done

He’s finished! Crazy-looking and very much handmade but kinda cute, I think. All he needs now is a little love.

My sewing technique is very primitive, so I’m pretty sure Mr. Dino will experience some future surgeries. This may be just the start of an epic journey…

I’m reading Cathryn Michon‘s The Grrl Genius Guide to Life and learned recently that she co-wrote a screenplay based on the book. Even more impressive, she stars in the film and produced it! The film, Cook Off!, is about a group of people who become finalists in a million dollar cooking competition. Michon co-wrote the screenplay with Wendi McLendon Covey (Reno 911) and W. Bruce Cameron (8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter).

Apparently the film hasn’t been picked up by a distributor – not really sure what that means but I hope it gets distributed soon because I want to see it! It’s got that mockumentary feel and check out the cast…Diedrich Bader, Stephen Root, Niecy Nash, Wendi McLendon Covey, Cedric Yarbrough and more.

I love tea. This teapot is beautiful and functional – makes the perfect amount (3 cups) and keeps the tea at just the right temp. Adagio teas has great products and even better customer service.

My new favorite tea – golden monkey.

A Tried and Tested Method – The Longcut. Found this on a blog called Brand Spanking New.

I shrunk a nice sweater on accident so I decided to put it to good use as a plushie for my nephew. The dino is in pieces now but I’ll post a photo when he’s all finished. The design was highly inspired (not copied!) by this “protosaurus” I found through my masterful Google searching.

I found this video of Rives performing at TED talks on my favorite design blog, swissmiss, in January. Re-found it in my bookmarks today. Rives is a wonderful poet, I’d love to see him perform someday. More about Rives and his poetry on his website.

If I were emperor of the internet? Hmmm…

champagne chair

Design Within Reach has an annual Champagne Chair Contest I would love to enter someday. The contest asks designers to make a chair out of the cork, wire and paper that seals the champagne bottles you open during New Years parties. Fun! Maybe I will enter next year. See entries and winners at

This polaroids site is really neat. I especially like the color kit series.
